Radiation Production and Detection

Medical Physics Education

In these section, we will highlight ionizing radiation production and detection. Ionizing radiations could be particulate and non-particles. Examples of radiations useful in medical physics are X-rays, gamma rays, and beta particles (electrons). Protons, alpha particles, and neutrons . Typical methods depending on the radiation types include the acceleration of charged particles, radioactive decay and particle-antiparticle annihilation. The short videos below will provide readers with basic understanding on the production, nature and detection of ionizing radiations. It is recommended that more indepth knowledge of this subject is avaialble in basic to advanced textbooks in radiation production, detection and measurements.
